Midweek TV Preview: 4 - 7 October 2010

Tuesday 5 October

19.15 MK Dons v Charlton Athletic, Johnstone's Paint Trophy Second Round, Sky Sports 2/HD2
Four games away from the overall final, MK Dons host Charlton Athletic in the southern section of the Football League Trophy's second round. The Dons reached the area final last year, falling to a 4-1 aggregate defeat against Southampton. Charlton reached the second round courtesy of a 1-0 home win against Dagenham & Redbridge, while Tuesday's hosts were one of the 16 clubs awarded a first round bye.

Wednesday 6 October

19.15 Sheffield Wednesday v Chesterfield, Johnstone's Paint Trophy Second Round, Sky Sports 2/HD2
In the north, Sky's selected JPT game sees Sheffield Wednesday face high-flying League Two side Chesterfield at Hillsborough. Two goals from James O'Connor took Wednesday past Notts County in the first round while Chesterfield, who drew 5-5 with Crewe on Saturday, had to win away at Walsall to secure their second round spot and a glamour tie in South Yorkshire.

Thursday 7 October

19.45 Forest Green Rovers v Grimsby Town, Blue Square Bet Premier, Premier Sports
For those of you with access to Premier Sports, the Blue Square Bet Premier is essential viewing. On Thursday, lowly Forest Green welcome Grimsby to the New Lawn with Rovers manager Dave Hockaday's future shrouded in uncertainty. Eco-friendly investor Dale Vince bought into the club at the end of the summer and will be desperate for them to retain their top-flight status this season.

01.00 (Friday morning) Philadelphia Union v LA Galaxy, Major League Soccer, ESPN/ESPN HD
This one's a dead rubber in playoff terms, with LA confirmed and Philly already eliminated, but the Galaxy will want to cement their spot at the top of the combined East-West table and take back the initiative in the race for Supporters Shield. Keep an eye out for Sebastien Le Toux and Danny Mwanga for the Union.
